Margaret "Maggie" O'Neil

Maggie is serving a third term in Maine's House of Representatives, representing residents of the city of Saco. She is a member of the Government Oversight Committee and chairs the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry.

Maggie has served her community and engaged in  political initiatives starting at a young age.

Maggie was raised in Saco.  After attending McAuley High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Classics and History from King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. While in school, Maggie provided weekly educational support to students from immigrant families and no-cost after school programming for families in need of assistance.

Maggie served an AmeriCorps term with the Maine Conservation Corps, where she deepened her commitment to protecting Maine’s natural resources. She also volunteered for various initiatives with the Maine Democratic Party and Equality Maine, while working locally both as an Assistant Park Ranger at Ferry Beach State Park and in hospitality.

Currently, Maggie is a law student at the University of Maine. She serves with a number of local organizations, including Age Friendly Saco and Maine Law's chapter of If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice. As a member of Saco's Senior Tax Abatement Program committee, Maggie worked with local leaders to improve the city's property tax relief program for seniors.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking, and being near the water.
